Growing Together To Be Our Best

* Mansion House

On the 21st October some of Dosbarth Aneurin Bevan were invited along to the Mansion House in Richmond Road to have afternoon tea with the current Lord Mayor Kate Lloyd (The Lib dem councillor for Cyncoed). Miss Allen and Mrs Webber went along too.

All the children were impressed with how nice and genuine she appeared to be when asking them about themselves. There were lots of different schools there too (all the schools in Cardiff would have been invited to one of these events.)

After a glass of squash (no plastic cups for us) and some nice sandwiches and snacks we looked at the mayors robes, mace and even a cool sword! We learnt about the history of the office and why she is allowed to be described as the Right Hounorable Lord Mayor rather than just a mayor.

The mayor is a keen gardener and gave the children a bag of bulbs to plant at the school which you can see Green gang doing here

You can see local Lib dem councillor Jaqui Gason in her role as the Lord Mayor visiting the class in 2004. You can also find out about

There is a nice worksheet telling you about the history of the Mansion House itself on the South Glam Records website here.
