Growing Together To Be Our Best

Foodbank

Helping others is an important part of life at Millbank, it’s not just a generosity of spirit it’s about ‘doing the right thing’. We work hard to fundraise and collect money for others around the world, we also campaign on a host of topics from Global Education, Fairtrade, Medical Research & support to food waste. Pupils get involved in choosing and researching the good causes and write letters or petitions when we can learning about the issues in the process.

As we collect cash and gifts for schools in Kenya we continue to collect food donations that can be distributed through charity FoodBank to help those in need in our own community. Child Poverty is a big issue and donating food is a simple way to provide assistance to those who have fallen on difficult times and need temporary assistance. It has helped show how easy it is to make a positive difference to our world in a very practical way. But also links in with global issues like Food Waste, healthy eating and growing your own food.

Part (d) of Article 29 of the UNCRC says that schools should be responsible for “..The preparation of the child for responsible life in a free society. ” As a UNICEF Rights Respecting school we think this is a great way to get children involved in learning about society and making a difference.
