Millbank Primary School

Growing Together To Be Our Best

Healthy School Award

Many people tend to think of Healthy Schools as being something just to do with school dinners or what's on sale in the Tuck shop. But it is obviously far more than that, and is a holistic approach to a wide variety of factors affecting the health of children in our community.

It's about creating a safe environment and giving children a range of skills to deal with all sorts of problems they will encounter in life. It's about diet and how to grow your own food free from pesticides and preservatives, how to cook the food, and just as important how to have fun doing both. It is also about involving the families so the children use these skills and messages in their day to day life.

The Assessor said "On behalf of Healthy Schools I would like to thank Mrs Allen, the staff and pupils for a very enjoyable and successful morning in completing Phase 5 of the Healthy Schools Scheme. The actions have already made an impact on the school and will obviously be continuing. It is evident the staff and pupils work very hard towards making Millbank a “healthy school”, with a positive approach to healthy living through fun, whole school activities."
