Summer Term - "Just a Stage I'm Going Through.."
This term, all of Progression Step 3 (Years 4, ,5 and 6) are working together on an end of year production of Matilda. Our primary role in Year 5 is to create the design for the set and stage.
To do this we need to use all our skills from a wide area of the curriculum:
Maths - Area and perimeter of shapes, measurement and scale, money.
Literacy - instructions, advertisiing.
Science and Technology - Forces, Light and Sound, Design and building of sets.
Expressive Arts - Design of set, scenery and props, music, animation.
Humanities - setting of historical aspects.
Health and Well-being - Fitness for performance.
A firm footing - friction investigation.
All sorts of people work on a stage, from performers to builders. It is important to think about the grip on their shoes for different roles, as well as the different types of flooring. So we thought about how we can measure the friction between our shoes and different types of flooring.
